We carry out a wide range of work to create, conserve, protect and promote ponds.
We lead on and are involved in conservation work, community projects, surveys, resrearch and policy-related work. Key projects and highlights of our work include:
Million Ponds Project
This is an ambitious project to dig about half a million new high-quality potential ponds in the UK, with clean water, that are good for biodiversity.
Garden ponds project
We want to find out what really lives in the UK's garden ponds. We also have advice for making new ponds.
South Yorkshire ponds project
This project will look for opportunities for pond construction, decide on pond restoration projects and identify funding opportunities.
Pond Habitat Action Plan
This will help to protect ponds in the UK. We are joint leaders with the Environment Agency.
EPCN - European Pond Conservation Network
We are joint founders of the EPCN and co-ordinate the Promoting Pond Conservation in Europe and the Mediterranean Region (Pro-pond) project.
Surveys - we carry out small and large-scale surveys of ponds to find out how good they are for biodiversity.
