Draft Pond Habitat Action Plan

The Pond Habitat Action Plan will help to protect ponds and the wildlife that lives in them. The plan is currently in draft phase and the final version will be available here in Summer 2008.

Are all ponds protected by the Habitat Action Plan?

Not all ponds will be protected under the the Habitat Action Plan. Priority ponds will need to meet certain criteria and it is estimated that around 20% of the 400,000 or so ponds in the UK (excluding garden ponds) will meet one or more of the criteria.
