The aim of carrying out monitoring is to protect some of the UK's best ponds by concentrating monitoring efforts on these special 'Flagship Pond' sites.
Once you have attended one of our Flagship Pond Training Courses you can use this form to monitor your Flagship Pond.
The monitoring form allows you to assess possible threats to the pond and its surrounding land use. It records basic plant information for which ID skills will be required. It also records some very basic water chemistry for which you will need the conductivity and pH meter.
The form makes an automatic calculation of risk after you enter your data. Anything that triggers a moderate or high risk will generate an email to the relevant parties responsible for looking after that pond.
The form is designed in such a way that not all fields have to be filled in on every survey.

A list of current UK Flagship Ponds can be found here. This list will expand as new sites are nominated and approved subject to survey data. For more on the Flagship Pond sites in Wales - with species lists where available - you can visit our Ponds on the Map section.
