Arguably our most beautiful snail, with its iridescent, pearly shell, the Shining Ram’s-horn Snail has been hit-hard by increased pollution, changing water levels due to land drainage and over enthusiastic ditch clearance.
Once found all over Britain, it is now firmly on the endangered list, and has retreated almost entirely to a narrow fringe of land between the sea and the land - our coastal grazing marshes - where there are still networks of clean ditches, including the marshes of the Norfolk Broads, the Pevensey Levels and the Somerset Levels.
Your gift of £12.00 will help us to help this incredibly endangered species by making new clean water homes, and working together with partners and land owners to advise on best-management practices for this beautiful but fragile creature.
